Jr. Camp Counselor – Leadership Track

Completed 6th–8th Grade
Serve. Lead. Grow.
_______________

The Jr. Camp Counselor program is the first step in Zion’s developing Leadership Track for youth. This track is designed to help middle school students grow from campers into confident, caring leaders who serve others with faith, kindness, and responsibility.

Lead Through Encouragment

Rather than simply attending camp, Jr. Camp Counselors begin practicing leadership in real, supported ways.

They serve alongside adult counselors, assist younger campers, and learn what it means to lead through encouragement, patience, and positive example.
_______________

This is not about being perfect or “in charge.”
It is about learning to:

• Care for younger campers
• Work as part of a team
• Take responsibility and follow through
• Lead with kindness, humility, and joy

Who should apply?

This program is designed for youth who have completed 6th–8th grade and are ready to:

• Grow in responsibility and confidence
• Support and encourage younger campers
• Be a positive role model
• Learn leadership and teamwork skills
• Serve with kindness, patience, and joy

_______________
No leadership experience is required — just a willingness to learn, serve, and bring a positive spirit.

Training & Commitment

Serving as a Jr. Camp Counselor includes:

• Camp Week: June 22–26, 2026
• Leadership Kickoff Training (date TBD)
• Safeguarding Training (included in kickoff)

_______________
This ensures every Jr. Counselor is prepared to lead safely, responsibly, and confidently.

Every Camp Counselor’s Promise

At Zion, all counselors and volunteers are called to model kindness, patience, inclusion, and encouragement so that every camper feels safe and valued.

_______________
This is leadership through example, not perfection.

Ready to Apply?

If your child is excited to grow in leadership, serve younger campers, and be part of an encouraging team, we would love to receive their application.
